Best Places To Eat Near Penn Station

Penn Station has its fair share of places where you can grab something to eat, but staying on the bustling concourse isn’t going to be the relaxed eating experience you might need if you’re on the move. Thankfully, you won’t have to.
Anywhere there’s a large transport hub, and Penn Station is one of the biggest in the world, there are always amazing places to eat nearby. It’s a well-known fact in the hospitality trade that travelers need feeding, so setting up a restaurant business near a station means you’re guaranteed a bunch of hungry customers.
There are some fantastic places to eat near Penn Station that, even if you’re the most dedicated of foodies, will surprise and delight you. If you have dietary restrictions or are vegan, you won’t need to go far before you find somewhere that serves exactly what you need. Don’t be fussed with your heavy bags while you go in search of sustenance; instead, visit a Penn Station luggage storage facility first and stroll around with your hands free.
You’ll find great restaurants on 7th, 8th, and 34th Street, which are all only a couple of minutes on foot from Penn Station, so there’s no chance you’ll faint from hunger while trying to find them. Take your pick from any of the ones listed below, and you’ll have a super meal and be served with a welcoming New York smile.
The best place to head for is Green Blend if traveling has left you flagging and you need food that will give you a healthy boost of energy. Green Blend is a two-minute walk from Penn Station and has a menu that will leave you feeling fully revitalized.
Take a seat in the garden-like premises of Green Blend, and you’ll be able to contemplate the astroturfed walls of this health food restaurant while tucking into a salad bowl or sipping on a spinach and kale shake. If it’s winter in New York when you’re there, skip the salad and try Green Blend’s lentil soup instead. It’s fortifying.
Niles is a modern diner with an all-day menu, so no matter what time you head there, you’ll be able to get something substantial. Don’t be put off by the gold-plated entrance. This place isn’t posh, even though it may give that impression from the outside. Inside, it’s simple classic white décor, with the only upmarket note being the tablecloths.
At Niles, they serve typical American fare like juicy ribeye sandwiches, buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches, and Irish burgers if you want something small to snack on. They have a great selection of mains, too, including sea bass and French-style roast chicken. If you’re vegetarian, go for the teriyaki cauliflower bowl. It’s delicious. If you’re not vegetarian and find that appetizing, you can add prawns or chicken to the dish for a few dollars more.
It won’t matter what time you’re looking for somewhere to eat near Penn Station if you go to the Tick Tock Diner, as it’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The motto of this diner is tick-tock meals around the clock, and that’s exactly what you can get. They also boast of being the biggest diner in New York City, so getting a table won’t be difficult either.
The Tick Tock Diner is located at street level in the New Yorker Hotel and has that welcoming retro feel of a typical 1970s diner. Here they serve a full brunch menu and an all-day menu, so there’s no shortage of choice. When you want chicken and waffles at midnight, a stack of pancakes at 3 am, or beer-battered cod for dinner, day or night, it’s yours, as is everything else they have on their menu.
When you have time for a special eating experience, have a leg stretch and walk the five minutes from Penn Station to Zou Zou’s on 9th Avenue. This restaurant is well worth the walk. The open kitchen here is as much a feature of the restaurant as the food, which is on an entirely different level from typical diner cuisine.
At Zou Zou’s, they focus on producing Eastern Mediterranean dishes with influences from countries like Israel, Turkey, and Syria that really are a cut above. This is the restaurant near Penn Station to go for flame-grilled prawns and Moroccan fried chicken. They also have some incredible vegetarian dishes on their menu, so no one’s taste buds are deprived of the pleasure of eating here.
NB: Zou Zou’s have a split service. Lunch is served from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, and dinner is from 5 pm until 11 pm.
When you want casual, uncomplicated dining somewhere with only chicken on the menu, then go to Chirp. Chirp is a Peruvian restaurant that focuses on chicken but in an extraordinary way. At Chirp, they marinate their chicken overnight in a special blend of spices, then grill it on a rotisserie before converting it into several delicious dishes.
At Chirp, you can tuck into Peruvian chicken rice bowls, chicken salads, chicken burgers, chicken empanadas, or a portion of grilled chicken with whatever sides you fancy. They also make a stomach-satisfying chicken soup that costs around the same as a Starbucks coffee and tastes much better. If you’re traveling on a budget and don’t have too much money to spend, you’ll love the prices here.
They’ve also been considerate enough to cater to vegetarians. They offer a mushroom rice bowl, a quinoa salad bowl, and an avocado salad, as well as a very tasty mushroom sandwich.
You really don’t need to go far to find some amazing places to eat near Penn Station. Whichever direction you take will lead you to a great taste sensation, so, as the old saying goes, just follow your nose to the one you find most appetizing, grab a table and then enjoy.
